OVERVIEW

A wounded soldier awakens in an otherworldly limbo state between past and present. Navigating this new future that he finds himself in, he begins to reckon his internal conflict and sacrifice endured by those directly affected by conflict.

Approaching a music video for an instrumental song about war is a piece that carries a lot of weight. Empathy, understanding and personal intuition informed my writing as I set out to create a meditation on the human cost of conflict. Leaning into the surreal worlds that God Is An Astronaut create in their soundscapes, I worked towards creating a world that felt so familiar but very distant, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in the song’s theme. An abandoned Soviet Barracks just outside of Berlin provided the perfect post-apocalyptic backdrop to our soldier’s story.
